That's like asking the difference between a 1995 mustang and a 2006 ferrari!
the P2 is very old technology, and not worth your time or money.
The P4 is probably about 100 times faster than the old P2 chips.

Too much info to put here... You must have missed out on the Pentium III, and the Pentium 1 was before your time...
Let's just say that the generations are charted on the Intel website...
BTW, I am running every generation here, right now, plus all the 'competitors' (agreement was to release info to competitors, so there could be some alternatives!). I have Cyrix, AMD, IBM cpus.
All run 50X faster with http://pclinuxos.com than was possible in Microsoft.
In fact, none are 'slow', though the ones under 200 Mhz are better suited for my fileservers and firewalls like http://IPCOP.org
Microsoft has switched all their 45,000 systems to GNU/Linux, starting with Hotmail.com in 1997, and last is Microsoft.com, in 2005, after paying off the royalties owed to many developers, largely at Universities, upon losing the remaining court cases of which we counted 361.
So, grab http://pclinuxos.com and burn the LiveCDrom!
Comes with 5500 programs, and games.
