I found out that while driving, especially while cruising at 40mph, there is a squeaky noise coming from the front wheels as it rotates. However, once I press on my brakes, the sound seizes. I really want to know what causes this sound and remedy it before it damages something in the wheel region.

What others has said can be correct and you should check, this can also occur in the manner you described when the brake caliper is sticking and not floating freely. this can be caused by rust or dirt.

another thing it can be is loose or worn wheel bearings. You should consider having those checked as well as the brake pads and calipers.

It is best to have this checked out by a mechanic.

Generally it is something rubbing on the rotor. It could mean your brake pads are down to 0. If that is the case, your caliper is rubbing on your rotor which means you may have to have your rotor turned. Or your rotor could have a glaze on it as well that can cause a squeek. Either way, the longer you let it go, the more expensive it will be to fix.

Its a break pad wear indicator it makes that sound when pads need to be replaced to let you know before you cause damage to drums or rotors. I slept at Holiday Inn last night.

It might be a warped rotor ? Could also be a stuck brake caliper or possibly the warning track on your pads.

You're hearing the wear detectors on your brakes. It's telling you it's time to have them checked.
