It's fine not to be. None of my brothers are. It is cleaner if your are circumcised, less prone to infections & things like that. It's kind of a simple procedure but more painful as an adult if you want to have it done.

Circumcision is practiced by Jews and Muslims as part of their religion. The USA made it routine several decades ago, since circumcision reduces the chances of STDs. It is considered a good practice for better hygiene. More and more people are re-thinking the procedure since it can be argued that it is a form of mutilation. If you are uncircumcised, you need to pay attention to washing yourself in the shower. Keep clean! The benefits to being uncircumcised is that you still have about 20,000 nerve endings attached to your skin that gives you more pleasure than people who are "cut". Just ask a European. Whether or not anyone is "supposed" to be circumcised is really up to the parents. Most opt for their baby boys to "look like daddy".

It's a cultural and/or religious thing. Usually in the US, males are circumsized and in Europe the norm is to be uncircumcized. I think Jews have it performed on the 8th day for religious reasons. I'm not Jewish but I had my son circumcized when he was born.
