I only want to see items that might actually be bargains, not "store" items, which most of the "buy it now" items seem to be. And why can't I see "past auctions" anymore?

You CAN isolate the BUY IT NOW items but cannot exclude them. You can find past auctions, called COMPLETED ITEMS by checking the box in the column at the left-side of the page. If you look at the bottom of that list you can customize the choices that show up on the list.

Bidding on an item and winning is technically a "contract" if you read the terms on ebay. but worst case you'll just end up with negative feedback you should know by now that almost everything done on ebay now is paid by paypal.

when you see the list of listings, look to your left hand side.

there should be a menu bar type thing where you can do more searches, etc.

if you scroll down there are options to limit your search results to certain restrictions.

I agree that is so annoying. Ebay has become just like amazon.
