Well, it's not the PS2 itself, but the plug bit. I have the slim design PS2, which has a 2-part electrical lead from the PS2 to the wall socket. The main part of this lead (with the adaptor bit on) is fine, but it's the bit with the plug - the top single pin (which I think is plastic) has broken off, leaving just the other 2 pins. Any suggestions? Can I use my lead from my old design PS2? Will another lead (like from an old video) connect into the adaptor bit? Can I cut the plug bit off and wire the lead into a new one, making sure the top pin (on new plug) is plastic?

if you mean the wire from the plug to the power supply, you can use a standard 'figure 8' power lead - this is a common type of lead used on portable Radios, CD Players, and other equipment. (if your a gadget head you probably already have loads of leads lying around in boxes in the bottom of your cupboards, just be sure it uses the same rating fuse and the plug is the same)

... Or you could get someone who knows how to to change the plug on the end, you can get a new plug for a few pence from a local DIY store.

P.S. LaiLaiCutey... the top pin of a socket is the Earth lead, you can still get a shock from it and you should NEVER STICK ANYTHING INTO A SOCKET other than a proper plug. I speak from personal experience, an Electric Shock is not fun and can be fatal... Again, if you are not an experienced electrician DON'T STICK ANYTHING INTO SOCKETS, its not big, its not clever...

You can still use that plug.

The top plastic pin is to unlock the bottom 2 so they open. Hence why its slightly bigger....
If you stick a cocktail stick in the top you should be able to stick the bottom 2 in, ive done it..... ;)

HAHAHA, JES YOU PEOPLE MAKE ME LAUGH, YOU HAVE 3 PINS ON A PLUG, THE BOTTOM 2 ARE CONDUCTERS THATS WHY THERE METAL, LIKE ABROAD, BUT THE TOP ONE IS PLASTIC BECAUSE IN THE UK THE PLUG SOCKETS IN THE WALL HAVE A LOCK ON THEM, AS SOON AS THE TOP ONE ENTERS ITS ERM.... HOLE, THE BOTTOM 2 OPEN LETTING THEM ENTER.
IT IS JUST FOR SECURITY AND THE TOP HOLE IN THE PLUG SOCKET HAS NO ELECTRICS RUNNING THROUGH IT. iF YOU DONT FEEL LIKE DOING THAT HAVE YOU GOT AN EXTENTION TRY IT NOT PLUGGED IN. IF YOU USE A COCKTAIL STICK OR SOMETHING SIMALAR AND PUSH IT IN THE TOP ONE LIFTING THE PLASTIC THING YOU WILL THEN BE ABLE TO PLUG IT IN. EASY PEASY......
BUT IN THIS TIME WHY DONT YOU JUST CHANGE THE PLUG SOCKET, AN AMATUER COULD DO IT. TAKE YOUR PLUD AND TAKE THE SCREW OFF THEN HAVE A LOOK, TAKE ANOTHER PLUG AND HAVE A LOOK.. SIMPLE CHANGE OVER......

AND ABOUT THE WII, DONT BE STUPID....
YOU WILL ALL BE EMBARRASED WHEN THE PS3 COMES OUT...

MUHAHAHAHAHAH

Why don't you see is a store like Best Buys or EB Games has a replacement cable? Best Buys might even be able to fix it for you if it is that complicated.

first of all, don't cut or alter anything. call the playstation number and they'll set you up to get a refurbished ps2 slim for like $45. all you have to do is send it back. that's prolly your best bet.

easiest thing to do,would be to go to a games shop and see if you can buy a spare lead from there.
