every christian in the world observes christmas, so naturally christians in hawaii would as well. obviously, non-christians do not observe it as a religious holiday, but most in christian dominated western nations have the day off from work or school so they spend time at home with their families anyway. (i have several jewish friends and aside from going to a movie, they really can't go out and do anything as nothing is open)

Yes, they do. In Hawaiian, they say "Melee Kalikimaka" (Merry Christmas). They go to the beach and enjoy delicious BBQ, poke and beer. (And surfing, of course!)
