This should help your trouble shooting. It's called the Fire triangle. In order for a fire to happen you need to have 3 things. Heat, Fuel, and Air. If you take away 1 of these things it is impossible for a fire to happen. Now with that said you are sure you are getting fuel to everything? How did you check this? If there is fuel going in to the motor and you are positive that fuel is getting in there then you need to look at Spark. If you are getting spark then the only two other possibilities would be air and TOO MUCH fuel. Or that you have burn exhaust valves that are not allowing for compression to happen and burn the fuel. but I am positive if you double check that you are getting fuel you will find that you have a defective pick up in the distributor or a bad control module. Hope this gives you better direction for your trouble shooting. Happy Revving

It's not impossible for a new fuel pump to be bad but check and see if your car has a relay in it to shut the fuel off in case of a wreck. Are your fuel filters Ok ?
