Yes hip-hop is dead cause it's all about making money not delivering a socially conscious message or guiding the youth out a "ghetto mentality", which was the goal in it's inception. It delivers a capitalistic,ego-centered, degrading message instead.

Much like every other genre of music, the word "hip hop" is probably going out of style (replaced by words like r&b / club / dancehall), but the style itself is not going anywhere. It is simply evolving, very much like everything else on this planet.

The music changes along with our culture. There is no good or bad music, only OPINION and TASTE.

Western culture is dying in general. The music, movie, gaming etc industries do little but pump out low quality garbage to sell big and keep their footing in the market.

You cant blame them .. the level of competition these days leaves little room for the expenses of quality

We can hope!

If I hear another wanna be thug rap about his homies and honnies I think I may resort to country music just to get away from it.
