The only way is for you and your spouse to totally stick together on all issues. Never disagree in front of the kids. If you do disagree, go somewhere private to discuss. The kids will do everything possible to break you 2 up. They will think that they will get more of your attention if your spouse is out of the picture. Stand by your spouse's methods and words. Once you take a kid's side in an arguement against your spouse the strength of your marriage starts to weaken. It is the adults vs the kids. I am serious. I have lived it. Hubby and I been together 15 years and the kids are grown and gone. We survived by sticking together.

It takes the entire family wanting this combination to work!!! Have a big dinner and invite the entire family!!! You can call it " a celebration" because you are welcoming and uniting 2 families!!! If it goes well, then great!!! If it doesn't, then you will have to decide what to do at that point!!! Good luck sweetie!!!

Communication is the #1 component. Make a set of house rules that everyone abides by and never do anything without discussing it with the other.
