I mean when Shaq was with the Lakers I thought he was the shizznit, but now that all this bulls&%$ happened with Kobe, I really am not a fan of his anymore. I am just wondering why he changed his number because I think he is trying to put on a show...my opinion...don't hate...

24 was his second number in high school, 33 the other. Both were taken when he came to the Lakers, once by Kareem no less. He's also said the number change signifies the "second part of his career."

I think it's marketing personally.

Actually, I really disliked Kobe after the rape trial. He's a dirt bag, and threw Shaq under the bus too.

Still, this year he has been excellent. His shots are down, assists up and they are winning. He's a Laker, so I can't hate...

Honestly, I couldn't care less about Kobe Bryant. He typifies what's wrong with the NBA... the huge majority of players are interested in their own stats, their own scoring, their own welfare, and not the team's. That's why very few players can play defense worth a darn. There is no other reason for a player to score 82 points, other than showing the world he's the best, it's him that the fans come out to see, it's him that wins games. Too bad it isn't true.

Kobe's rape trial didn't really impress me, other than I thought his wife was a major door mat for not cutting his basketballs off. Again, typical of the thuggery that goes on in most sports anymore..... Not that cheating on your spouse hasn't been going on for a looong time in professional sports.

Kobe also really mis-handled Shaq leaving the Lakers, and even while Shaq was with the Lakers. Kobe's not player enough to carry a team, and he should have at least buried the hatchet long enough to make sure Shaq stayed with the Lakers. Again, Kobe isn't all the blame on this either... I just don't like him!!!

It's a reawakening of sorts. 24 was one of his old high school numbers.
