Been there, done that after my cousin's kids have been using the PC at my Grandma's house.... usually nothing 2hrs work can't put right.
The first thing I can think of trying, if your PC runs either Windows ME or XP is try persuade the computer to do a "System Restore" to a point before the kids ****ed it up.
I usually often find doing a full Anti-Virus & Anti-Spyware scan is needed too, since kids seem to have a tendency to look up words rude words via a search engine, which more often than not usually leads to websites with dodgy Active-X controls that download crap onto the computer.
If you've got an old mouse going spare, try plugging a different one into the computer, as my new PC was acting funny last week when I transferred the mouse from my old PC over to it (admittedly I had dropped it on the floor a day or two before, and broken something off it)... and needed restarting every 2 - 3hrs or less, then worked fine without a glitch for 23hrs straight when I plugged a different mouse.
You may also want to check all buttons & keys to make sure they ain't been jammed down somehow.

Probably the kids have dragged on an icon with the mouse button pressed, this creates a shortcut. You can delete multiple shortcuts ( the ones with the black arrows in the corner) Just right mouse click and left click on the drop down menu delete. You will get a confirmation script delete programme or delete shortcut, choose shortcut.
Multiple sections are a different matter. Usually you have to hold down the Shift key or Cntrl Key. Make sure these keys are not jammed down.

You can fix the mouse by clicking left and right button several times (fast) on the desktop. and the extrca icons on the desktop are probably just "shortcut" icons, they have return arrow at bottom left. Just highlight the onces you dont use and delete them.

Your pal is probable good insofar as think about decreased in length an epidemic. think about to get the WXP disk. My comprehend-how of the restore software is to revert to a state at the same time as the workstation/software worked purely right. Why did you take advantage of this function? If it replaced into you had those complications then the restore software will take you to the point to the position the topics befell . i spotted you probably did not aspect out anti-virus software. Do you've a firewall? once you deal with themes be at reason no longer result.

pop the windows cd back in the drive, and restart the system, re install the os, and that will fix the problem.you may want to completely format the drive, cause it sounds like a virus on it.just follow the onscreen instructions and itll walk you through it.
