Would these be five different forms of energy?

1. Kinetic Energy
2. Mechnical Energy
3. Potential Energy
4. Thermal Energy
5. Work (Transfer of energy)

That all depends on how you categorize energy. I wouldn't put mechanical energy in the list, since it's kinda vague - mechanical energy can be gravitational potential energy, spring potential energy, or kinetic energy.

Some consider thermal energy a form of kinetic energy, since it is the energy of particles moving around.

Potential energy could be gravitational, spring, chemical, or even mass (as in E=mc^2).

I wouldn't put work on the list at all. But that's just me.

1) defined as the work needed to accelerate a body from rest to its current velocity.

4)thermal energy may be regarded either as 1. a synonym for thermodynamic energy (itself a synonym for internal energy) or as 2. a synonym for heat.
