I measured big through out my whole pregnancy. For me they couldn't figure out why. But causes could be the baby is big, you gained extra weight, you could have excess fluid, the baby could just be positioned weird. Its normal so don't worry about it.

My guess is a tall baby. If it's the fundal height measurement where the doctor measures in inches from the pubic bone to the top of your uterus then it could be that baby and uterus have stretched up high in your torso because baby has long legs (tall baby). Are you and/or baby's father tall?
If it's the ultrasound that measures you at 37 weeks then it's more likely that your original due date may have been off by a week or two.
Hope that helps!
Good luck.

First of all: are YOU measuring at 37 weeks, or is the baby measuring at 37 weeks? There's a difference. Either way it's not unusual; those calculations are not exactly the most reliable.
The measurement of the fundal height (when the midwife or doctor takes a tape measure to your belly) is not that accurate -- studies have shown it to be less than 50 percent accurate. (It was adopted as an inexpensive and easy means to determine if a baby was unusually large/small, and multiple pregnancies, because it was considered more reliable than palpation alone). It is not generally used in the later stages of pregnancy.
Measurements of the fetus/baby to determine gestational age are more reliable early in the pregnancy -- that's why they're used to date a pregnancy early on. Later in pregnancy they are rather notoriously UNreliable.
(Don't even get me started on measurements to estimate your baby's weight...! If I had a penny for every woman who was told "you better have a c-section because your baby is x pounds!" and who then went on to have a baby much smaller than estimated....I'd be able to buy a bigger house to accomodate my twins!)
In short: ask your midwife or doctor about what THEY think it means, and about any concerns you might have, but don't sweat the measurement at all.
Good luck!

I think the three most common reasons would be 1. Big baby 2. Miscalculated due date 3. Extra amniotic fluid.
I measured 2 weeks ahead with my thrid, because he was big, He was born 10 days before his due date,,which was correct and he weighed 8 lbs 15 oz. Best wishes!~ :-) I wouldn't worry personally.

Dont get scared at all this is natural some womens bodies are different then others my sister in law was 3 months and measured six because she grew striaght out from her waist nothing else on her body changed just her stomach and chest she was miserable for a long time because of it but she says she wouldnt change a thing. It is just how you are carrying the baby.

The size of you is nothing to do with the weeks of your baby, you need to have an ultrasound to measure your baby which will be more accurate. We don't have measuring the mum in the UK(not when i had my son) cos if they did i looked like i was about 16 weeks at full term and i gave birth to a 9lb baby.Ouch! Goodluck anyway.

Sometimes if the baby is still in breech position, your fundal height will be more than if she's head down. When she turns, it'll go down.
Some doctors don't even use this measurement anymore because of the inaccuracy. So, I wouldn't worry too much.

That to me would mean your going to have a big baby. My belly at my last appointment measured at a little under 28 weeks but my bby measured at 29. I'm now 30 weeks and 3 days...the dr didn't seem worried. But I think I'd worry if my child was going to be really big. Maybe you should ask your dr for another sonogram if he was ony measuring belly.

I think this means that you're going to have a big baby. Get an ultrasound done, from that they can tell roughly how much the baby weighs. It could also be that the time of conception is off a bit.

My friend was like that.... the baby was just pretty large, nothing to be concerned about. What are they estimating the baby to weigh.... considering your meassurements I would say somewhere in the 9lbs area
