After Hurricane Katrina the NO Hornets were left without a home for the 2005/2006 season, so they were relocated to Oklahoma City for 35 games. Effectively making them the New Orleans/Oklahoma Hornets for the year. NOK is just the merger of NO and OK.

Anyway, during the season, Oklahoma continued to have good attendence and were some of the most supportive fans in the league. Also Hornets players loved playing there, so, for this year as well, the Hornets are playing many of their home games in Oklahoma city, 35 to be exact. Team owners have indicated that they'll be moving back to New Olreans next year though, so they'll once again be the NO Hornets.

New Orleans Oklahoma City
NOK. They already have an O, so they take the second letter in Oklahoma.
