Start by sending some prints and your resume to magazines so they'll get used to seeing your work and your name. Since you have an online portfolio, you can also include an URL to your photos so they can see more if they're interested. Also, start sending pictures to your local papers. Sometimes, if a photo really catches their eye, they'll put it in the paper, and you get exposure.

While you're doing this, start doing your own projects on the side. Take a look at a magazine you'd like to work for and see what sort of work they publish, and try and do something similar. If you know they have a travel and tourism angle, go to the nearest nature reserve near you and do a small series on their hiking trails. Send these to the magazine and see if they'll buy the pictures from you. Offer to do some free work for them, to begin with, so they'll know what sort of work you can do.

Remember, just like with any other job hunt, you need to be polite but persistent! Good luck!

Try getting a job with a photographing company. And then ask the main photographer where he/she got her skills.
