you cant just pick one religion for the whole word to follow. How do you convert a good part of 6 billion people? I think a better question is how to unite the world under something other than religion? How do we make everyone realize that no matter race, color, size, ethnicity,world location or whether or not you like peanut butter? I believe if you looked at your enemies as you look at your friends (a person, with feelings, a family, a past and a future) everything would be a lot better. I realize this is not realistic, but maybe someday it can be. The majority of wars fought in this world have been over religion...and that goes against everything religion stands for...

If there must be "religion" it has to be proof against the fundamentalist extremism that is tearing the world up.
If only to satisfy the apparent human need to have a god.
It would have to be simple.
In very broad terms.maybe just an agreement to acknowledge or not the possibility of a higher power or benevolent creator & leave it at that.
Do nothing in that power's name.
Consider the possibility or not of there being a spirit in all of us.
Acknowledge the notion that some questions are unanswerable.
Conscious effort to do no harm.
