Start slowly. Don't try with the first or last feeding of the day, or any other time when baby is too hungry. Try when baby is alert and somewhat calm. I used the Avent bottles and had no problem at all going back and forth between breast and bottle. Start with just once a day and slowly work your way to more feedings.
Make sure you put breastmilk in the bottle and not formula since that is what your baby is used to drinking. Keep the bottle very close to your breast as you snuggle with your baby. Your baby is used to snuggling and warmth while being fed. You should try to replicate the same environment while using a bottle. Same chair, same times of day, etc. Let your baby smell your neck and chest area but don't open your shirt or else baby will expect the breast and refuse the bottle.
Let some milk drip from the bottle onto baby's lips and mouth so he/she knows that milk can come from the bottle.
Hope that helps and good luck to you.

Buy lots of different nipples and bottles to experiment with. My son liked the playtex nursers the best. And be prepared for a few fussy feedings until your baby lets you feed them with the bottle. They know the breast is best and they will prefer it, especially after 3 months of breastfeeding. Make sure the bottle is warmed to body temperature. Your baby is use to warm dinner. Try all different techniques, walking while feeding, rocking, mom, dad, grandma, etc. Also, One STep Ahead.com sells a nurser that resembles a breast. If your baby absolutely refuses, try it. It works since it has the same texture of the breast. Some babies need to be held close, like when nursing, to relax to drink the bottle. And some say not to let mom be the one but when I started my son, I had to hold him close like we were going to nurse. Aftre a few days, then he would take a bottle from Dad. It takes a lot of trial and error. Good Luck

It may be tough or it may be easy - the baby's personality and eagerness to eat will determine this.
Try using a nipple that is most like a breast nipple. Look into the Playtex bottles first and maybe also the clear silicone ones (they're a bit softer).
You may also want to give the bottle after making your baby wait a bit (if he's hungry he might not be so fussy about what he's eating), and offer the bottle first and only after he rejects the bottle REPEATEDLY, then try the breast.
It can be done...every mother has to wean eventually... Good luck!

Slowly introduce the bottle during feeding. Start off with small samples each time and slowly increase until he/she becomes used to eating from the bottle.

Most doctors will tell you that it is best to breastfeed for at least one year, however, they will also admitt that the first few weeks are the crucial ones becuase they are getting antibodies from the colostrum, not actual "milk". I weened mine at 2 months and she is as healthy as an ox. So I think your ok, your only problem will be if your baby doesn't want a bottle because nursing is much more comforting to them, and they seem to like the sweet taste much better too.

They make nippled shaped nipples that make it easery for the baby. But you should eather brestfeed out of a bottle are just brestfeed. You dont want to confused the baby. U need to make sure that the baby has no problem laching onto your nipple befor giveing the bottle to they. THen make sure that you give them time to get use to the bottle. U should also have set times all the time to have them eat out of a bottle and a set time for them to be brestfead. This will make it alot fast to get down for you and the baby.

I'ver heard that it might be best if the other main person in this babies life offers the bottle first. Sometimes a baby won't take it if s/he smells or sees you in the room. Buy a couple of different bottles with different nipples as well. My son def. had a nipple prefrence. Good Luck to you:)

I would alternate. Feed the baby the breast milk , then when the baby is ready to feed try 4oz. in the bottle. That worked for my sister in law.

My toddler is now 7 months previous. He replaced into spitting up a lot that my pediatrician had me positioned some tbsp of cereal in each and each and every bottle. My toddler replaced into nice. He slept more advantageous suited and spit up a lot less! also 31/2 isn't too youthful to eat cereal. maximum toddlers commence at 4 months. Your toddler is virtually there! i imagine of it this way. each and every toddler is diverse. you comprehend your toddler more advantageous suited than any pediatrician. If I were you, i ought to do what my gut informed me to do. you comprehend whats perfect for your toddler. I have performed both. My toddler had 2 tbsp of cereal in a 4 oz..bottle from 3 weeks till about 6 months. I also fed my son a small quantity of cereal on a spoon. only use alot of formula so it remains a runny consistency. as long as your toddler wont have problem digesting it. (few toddler's do. both one in each and every of mine were nice although this is been elementary to ensue) or wont choke on it (not too thick) they're going to be nice! try it once and if it enables them, good! Of the toddler receives slightly tummy soreness or seems fussy after wards, stop. Its properly worth a shot if it can make your toddler happier! It confident did mine!! Pediatricians are large, yet mom continuously is established with perfect! follow your instincts! ;)

Try having the father or someone else give the bottle. Your baby can smell you around and will prefer your breasts, so it's best not to be in the room.
