Don't EVER put Diesel in a petrol vehicle. you will destroy the engine. diesel fires under a very high compression and is not distributed the same way. Diesel will gum up the works and cost hundreds of dollars to repair.
If you put petrol in a diesel you will destroy the engine.
Diesel requires high compression to ignite manually. If you ignite petrol in the diesel it happens sooner and will blow headgaskets and it has blown heads off the vehicles.

No the two different fuels burn at differently. If you think of a diesel engine once it gets hot the compression is enough to ignite the fuel/air mixture. With gasoline you need a spark to ignite the fuel/air mixture. If you run diesel in a gasoline engine it may work for a while but it will smoke and not run right if at all. DO NOT TRY THIS!! Hope this helps!!!

Most engines are designed for use with petrol (gasoline) or diesel fuel. Using the wrong fuel will generally result in failure to run or produce disastrous consequences. Use only the fuel specified for a particular engine.
Exception: There have been some engines that were designed to start on petrol, then switch to diesel fuel for normal operation, and then switch back to gasoline for shut down. These were mostly industrial engines for compressors, earthmovers, etc.

no, a diesel enging and a gasoline engine work in entirely different ways, a diesel fires by compressing the fuel until it explodes.
in a gasoline/gas engine, this type of ignition is called pre-ignition, Knock, or even dieseling. Gasoline and similar fuels are designed to PREVENT explosion by compression, the ignition is caused by a spark. (the ability to prevent detonation is called the OCTANE rating)

No.
Petrol (gasoline) only works on engines design to run on petrol (gasoline fuel). Diesel fuel only works on engines design to run on diesel fuel.

Nope, but Diesel engines can be converted to run on vegetable oil.

Yes its best if you have a gas car and run diesel in it. You will get a lot more efficiency that way
