It is normal that you have not gotten your period back regulaly yet. It may not start at all until after you wean completely.

However, you do ovulate and can become pregnant before you ever "see" a period. Breastfeeding stimulates the sex hormones, which in turn stimulate the milk production, so breastfeeding can make your periods irregular or even absent.

Once you stop breastfeeding, it can take from a couple of weeks up to several months for your periods to re-establish themselves - especially if they were irregular before you conceived.

This is normal for a breast feeding mom. I have a friend who nursed for 2 years, and didn't have period until she completley weaned. Amazing. Some women's bodies actually do this. I've read books on using breats feeding to control fertility, so I know it can be done. You may just be one of those lucky moms who won't get your period again until you wean :-)

(Breast feeding suppresses ovulation.)

It's normal for some people and not for others. Voice your concerns to your ob/gyn to get reassurance. If it's any consolation, I had two children in a three year period. So only two periods for me in almost 4 years... Crazy , huh? I was also breastfeeding. From Jan 03 until May 05, I had no period. I had one period (May 2005), found out I was pregnant in July 2005. Breastfeeding for nine months now and no period. For some people, with breastfeeding, there is no period. For others who breastfeed, they still get a period (like my sister who totally envies me for not having a period for so long) .....
Hope this helped you......

perfectly normal, especially since you're breastfeeding. Its your body's way of protecting itself and the baby your breast feeding from another unviable baby.

You generally dont ovulate while nursing, especially when you nurse exclusively. This way you wont get pregnant, and your body can provide everything the living developing baby needs. Its natures way of protecting you and the baby.

Its not fool proof though, so dont expect it to be a form of birth control :)

After I had my son, my period went nuts! The only thing that helped was birth control. I would have a period go a mth. or two, have one, go 3,4,5 mts. have one, go another...so on, so on. I went to the gyn and I was completely normal.
