My dad recently had gastric bypass surgery. He ended up having to be cut down his stomache instead of it all being done microscopically. He is still in a lot of pain and its been almost two weeks. Well, the majority of his staples are out but he is now wearing a wound vac to help prevent infection. Does anyone know the approx healing time on this and when he can start doing things. I want to plan a fun day out with him and my mom but they aren't sure and the doc is a goober. I just would really like to do something special for them and need a time frame.

Usually with major abdominal surgery, and that is what your dad had, is usually 6 weeks. It depends on how your dad feels. It's important that he doesn't overdo it because he is still healing. I know you would like to have fun with him, but after the weight starts melting off he will have so much more energy for you. My brother had the open gastric bypass and he recovered nicely. He lost 240 pounds in one year. Tons more energy.

Hello ... I'm a surgical nurse so perhaps I can help you out. Wound Vacs speed up healing by increasing the blood flow to a wound by suction. Sometimes they are used because a wound just does not appear to be healing all that well by itself. Your dad's healing time is an individual thing ... affected by age, his health, whether he's diabetic or not ... stuff like that. But he should be feeling lots better within the next couple weeks, so I'd hold off the plans 'til then.
Good luck.

Please do no longer placed sea salt without delay onto the hollow. you could disolve a million/4 a teaspoon of sea salt right into a cup of warm water (as warm as you could tolerate) and soak yoru piercing. (you ought to do this by using both putting your lobe in the cup or inverting it over your ear.) do this for 10-quarter-hour a pair of times an afternoon till it feels beter. you could also go see a specialist piercer or a piercing-pleasant wellbeing care specialist. I doubt someone on the mall would understand what to do. you'll have bruised it at the same time as replacing the jewellery. you ought to really have a metal hypersensitivity too. attempt replacing it back to the unique stud and word if that helps.

Since he had major surgery, it should take about six weeks for him to fully recover. While you are waiting, play cards and board games together!
