I own a 1990 Buick Park Avenue. It's a great car and runs really well except for I havent' been able to get it to start in the winter, I dont' own a garage to store it in during nights and I need the car to get to and from work. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get my car to start in the winter?

The engine tries to turn over, I can get the lights to turn on and off. I just can't get the engine to turn all the way over.

Obviously your battery is not strong enough. Get a new one - the most powerful you can get that fits in the battery space.

Too many variables right here to verify, yet i might attempt to do away with some issues first. the biggest reason for misdiagnosis with it extremely is a few thing else seized that isn't enable the motor spin while cranking. Slip the serp belt off and recheck. If the motor now cranks and fires, examine the accesories enormously the alternator because it may be seized which will the two stay away from or sluggish the motor from cranking and or beginning. If it nevertheless is like that, placed a wrench on the harmonic balancer bolt and spot if the motor would properly be grew to become over by hand. bypass from there.

If you are sure it isn't the battery (meaning it's less than 3 years old, the engine turns over full speed, the terminals are clean, etc), then it could be a lot of things. Start with putting in some dry gas (it takes water out of the fuel tank). Make sure your air filter is clean. Anything in the engine compartment that looks like a plug for wires, unplug it and spray with WD-40 (it gets rid of water and conducts electricity), clean your battery terminals, clean your spark plugs with WD-40. Other than that, it's time to take it to the garage.

try AUXILLARY GAP spark plugs. They can fire through oil, a commont cold start problem starter in older cars.

run an extension cord out the window and put an electric blanket, or even a light bulb under the oil pan.

a trickle charger (about $30) would possibly help by keeping the battery topped off.

also use dri-gas (its just alcohol) to absorb any water condensation in gas tank.

We need some more info...

When you turn the key, does the motor turn over or do you just hear a click? If your battery is starting to go bad, the first thing it will do is not put out it's full power in cold weather.
