This happens to me from time to time and it scared me. But, it turned out that I was laying on my arm in my sleep, causing it to "fall asleep". Unless your arm is going numb all the time, not just when you're sleeping, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. If possible, try to sleep in a different position.

I wake up with my hands and arms numb all the time. It's because of the way I sleep, I get them twisted up under my body and the circulation gets impaired. To the best of your knowledge, have you changed your sleeping position? I don't think its dangerous, but if you are worried, I would contact my doctor.

It just means that you are sleeping so soundly that you are not moving in your sleep, and cutting off your circulation.

It's only dangerous if you continue to do it and eventually damage the blood vessels.

Are you drinking heavily before you go to sleep?

Try switching positions when you sleep, and I'm sure it will clear up! If not, see a physician, but it happens to me often when I'm exhausted, or drunk! ;}

Good luck!

Weird, that's been happening to me too. I think that we might be sleeping on it at night. I know that my back is out of alignment. My chiropractor states that any problems in out bodies are correlated to our spine (all the nerve ending travel through it). If you get a good answer email it to me

well its because you lay on your arm for a long peridot of time and it tends to get numb because of the blood flow in your veins are running slow of you laying on it. so try and not lay on it too long if you lay in that same position it is likely that your arm will get purple because the blood itsnt flowing. so try and lay in a different way.
