They are co-workers, nothing else. Both are equal. Both have been hired with jobs to perform.
If your are asking as a manager, remember to not ask menial favors from the ladies over the men. You must ask both sexes equally. However, a manager may ask his or her own secretary to make coffee or do deliveries.
It is a fine line. There are plenty of problems encountered by the unwise.

I would phrase my answer a bit differently than the other replier.
There are many differences between men and women in the work place. Mostly men are the bosses women are the subordinates. Women get usually paid less than men, men harass often women at work mostly if the relation is of superior and subordinate. It is expected of women to serve coffee to men and not vice verse. Women have a glass ceiling. Women have problems in combining motherhood with a career while men do not. There is more I am sure.
