Some people wait until the new year, but that seems depressing to me. Down goes the tree, and off to work we go.

I take down the tree before the first of the year as sure enough this is a tradition. One says to avoid bad luck in the coming year. However some people leave their tree up all year long and wait way after christmas to take it down. It depends on the person. Although I agree with you it is hard work taking them trees apart.

If you are superstitious, the saying goes. Take it down the day after Christmas if you had a bad year - you don't want to take it into the NEW Year. If you had a really good year, leave it up until after New Year's Day - to take the luck into the next year..
Mine usually comes down the day after Christmas if that tells you anything ... LOL

Oh, I keep them till almost end January. I always find it hard to say goodbye to Xmas spirit and the tree and decorations are part of the holiday. I'd like to keep them on forever, an eternal Christmas. Merry Christmas !

I take mine down the following day. It always looks so bare without the packages under it. Plus taking it all down and cleaning that room back up makes it fresh for the beginning of the new year.
