The faucet in our bathroom has been leaking ever since we moved into our home. At first it was just a little trickle every now and then but now it pours out water all day no matter how tight we made the handle. How can I fix this?

It's a military rented home. I will not be replacing anything--it's not worth it! Thank you for your suggestion though!

The cartridge inside the tap is leaking. Turn the water to the tap off, take the handle off, and there is where the cartridge is. Every faucet is different, but you should be able to just take a wrench and gently unscrew the cartridge from the tap. (Remember, this is plumbing, so the thread is backwards- you unscrew the opposite way you normally would) Once you have the cartridge out, go to your local plumbing supply store and get a new one, exactly like your old one. If they don't have one, they may have some o-rings or seals that will work to stop the leak. Hope this helps.

It sounds like a simple faucet, so you shut off the water under the sink...then there is usually a plastic cap on the top of the handle, pry that out, then take out the screw that holds the handle on. Loosen the stem some, then, using a wrench, unscrew the "bonnet" nut, the nut just below the handle. You want to be sure the stem is loose while you do this...and you should soon have the stem in your hand. Look at the bottom, and there is a black washer held on by a screw. Take out the screw, and take the stem and washer to your hardware store and get a replacement washer.
That's if it's an easy one. There are a zillion faucets out there, and some are pretty strange. If you have a different kind, get the stem out, note the brand on the faucet and take it to the hardware store. There are many kits available for all sorts of faucets.
There is the possiblity that the seat is bad...that's what the washer pushes up against...in that case, you either reface the seat with a little tool, or get replacement seats...many are replaceable.
Or...just replace the whole faucet with something good. It never pays to get cheap plumbing fixtures, they don't work that well, last very long, and the finishes go bad quickly.

if it is oming out of the faucet itself and not the handles you should just replace the black cound thing that is inside the faucet. It should unscrew so you can see whtat i am talking about and to replace it..Good luck and Happy Holidays

For the time being, under the sink are floor valves you can turn off.
Replace the whole faucet. It's fairly simple, and cheap.
