I still have this dream even though I graduated from college 3 and a half years ago.

Basically, I dream that it's a regular quarter, I'm taking 3 classes, but for some reason one of them I have forgotten to attend and therefore have missed a test (or more than one) jeopardizing my ability to pass the class. Or sometimes, I don't realize I've forgotten to attend until right before finals and I realize I'm screwed. Or, I dream that I have a quarter's worth of assignments that I need to make up before the quarter ends.

Sometimes, it's history. Sometimes, it's math. Sometimes, it's english. In college, I never failed a class, but got close once or twice. My parents were very rigid about grades. I actually usually did really well in school, but always feared failing a class due to some BS curve or ****** professor.

Anyone else have this type of dream? Or, have any insight into what it might mean?

I've also had this reoccurring dream, even being out of school for two years. In my dream I am close to the end of the semester and I've missed too many days and I am too far behind to pass the class. In college I had this habit of getting overly involved in things that I should have given less a priority to such as work, social life, etc, often throwing my life out of balance. The meaning I attribute to this dream is that we may not be giving enough attention to something or someone that is important.

Maybe this our subconscious reminding us that we need to take care of something urgent or something that has been put off.

Sometimes when we fill our schedules, what's important to us is pushed to the back burner. Maybe these dreams are just reminders to us to keep what's important to us a priority.

Or it could also be a type of anxiety or fear of failure.

I hope this was helpful.

I'm 32 and just recently started having, for the first time, a recurring dream about being back in high school. I start out very excited and happy to be back and really embrace all of the experiences of high school. Quickly after those feelings pop up, I get this overwhelming sense of dread and shame because I realize that I've completely neglected one of my classes. Mostly, it's my math class. I remember out of the blew that I haven't done any of the work and the dreams almost always focus on the math book. I've never picked up or opened it. So I get this frantic urge to catch up but I know that I couldn't possibly do it, and I go through this negotiation process of trying to find some way to not fail the class. It's very troubling and the feelings of shame, regret and such stay with me for hours and days at a time. I really feel like my subconscious is very loudly trying to tell me to do something, as is how I feel whenever I have reoccurring dreams or when a dream stays with me and I dwell on it. I've often gone to a dream dictionary for interpreting symbols and it's often very helpful. This time, I'm struggling to understand what the dream represents in my waking life. I've tried searching outside of my trusted dream dictionary and I've gotten some insights, such as some of the things you've guys have posted here, but I'm still having trouble understanding what I need to do in my waking life to correct my life and especially curious on the math symbolism. I should point out that it's always high school in my dreams, and I know this has meaning. And I'm usually embracing the hallways and the crowds of people and just the atmosphere of high school, which in all honesty was often frightening to me when I was of high school age. Also, I've never had these dreams before. I was a very good student and had straight A's through junior high, high school, college and graduate school. I excelled in math. School didn't come easy to me, but I worked hard. Always. I'm more focused on the way that the dreams make me feel, which is just terrible, and I don't know why.

I had a very similar dream for years and year, even 10 or 15 years after I got out of college. I have not had it lately (I am 22 years past graduation) but who knows?

My dream was very detailed. I would screw up a class hopelessly and then have to plot out how I would study for the final exams. I would always have at least one class that I had never even attended. It is really quite a terrifying dream.

I went to college twice, dropping out the first time. When I went back 6 years later, I was a much better student. While I screwed up an exam here and there, I never missed a class and ended up with a good track record.

I will give you my analysis of this, but please be aware that I have no expertise at all in dream analysis. So take this with a grain of salt.

I am a procrastinator, was both at school and am now at work. So this dream might reflect fears that I have that my procrastination is leaving me in an untenable position.

I have had that exact dream many many times. When I was going to school, I had that dream, and when I was teaching I had that dream, too. When I was teaching, the dream changed a little -- instead of forgetting about a course that I had signed up to take and then never attended any classes, I would dream that I couldn't find the class I was supposed to be teaching and I knew that the students were rioting. I have asked other people about this dream and many people have had it, so I guess it is a common dream. One good thing -- since I have retired, I don't have either dream anymore! So it must be a dream expressing nervousness and anxiety about something.

This dream scenario is very common, but can take on several different meanings. In most cases, it does involve a missed opportunity or regret about not taking advantage of something provided to you. The fact that you are realizing your 'mistake' at the end equates to your current state of mind and recognition now that you may have missed out on something.

The High School versus College scenarios can often indicate whether the "missed opportunity" occurred when you were younger, or perhaps more recently ... not necessarily while in High School or College; HOWEVER, recognition of under performance while in school is actually the most common subject of regret.

The ending of these dreams can be quite telling about your subconscious 'state of affair.' When these dreams end with a negative conclusion, it can represent that you THINK resolution is hopeless, even though it seldom is. Sometimes these dreams end with a surprisingly positive ending .. that things work out regardless. In these cases, you still retain a strong sense of accomplishment despite the missed opportunities of the past!!

Again, these dreams are very common, and they often tend to be sparked by specific events or a "professional rutt." However, an increase in the frequency of these dreams is worth addressing as it can be a potential pre-cursor to depression. {ttf}

I've had VERY similar dreams to this and I graduated 2 years ago. Here's my opinion: We've been going to school for so many years that our minds are simply used to going to class. Since we're not in academia anymore, part of our minds are probably missing the "routine" of school.

Maybe deep down in our psyche we're still expecting classes, and since we haven't gone to one in quite some time, something in us fears we're "missing" classes or whatnot. I've had a lot of dreams like that and I always wake up pissed, then relieved.

I don't know if this helps at all, but I really think it's because we're so used to being in class that our brains are going to take a few more years before these types of dreams stop happening.

Come to terms with it my dear. I left school 24 years ago I still get them from time to time. Usually mine is french but not always. Except the great part now is that I've been having them so long I realise they are just dreams and I wake up with that wonderful feeling that I never need to go to school again. I hated school by the way.

I have this dream too. I graduated from college in real life but in the dream I am somehow back in class and struggling.

I've been told that it represents some life's lesson that needs to be learned...some higher level lesson since it's college.

I would think that it means that you care about school and you care about how well you do in your classes. You say you have a fear about failing a class, which probably has something to do with it too.

Your dream is expressing the disconnect between what you opt for have been actual and the fact of the situation. bear with me for a 2d. you're saying your husband is "no longer allowed" close on your sister. no longer allowed by using whom? I presume you advise that *you* do no longer enable it. regrettably, although you're saying it is so, that's incredibly purely what you opt for have been actual. surely, you won't be able to shop on with your husband each 2d and forestall him from entering actual proximity with Sis. the fact of the situation is that, if he incredibly had to realize this, he would desire to manage a gathering with your sister and that they'd screw each others' brains out. Your subconscious suggestions recognizes the above-reported fact and promises you with it on a ordinary foundation, given which you're no longer accepting the fact of it. Your dream needs you to comprehend and settle for which you certainly have much less administration over the situation than you may opt for to have. yet right here is the treatment. settle for it, yet settle for this too, which you have reported: "I believe my husband." purely he can come to a determination to cheat or to no longer cheat. positioned your faith in him. tell him you believe him and which you anticipate that he won't have intercourse with your sister. Discard your stupid tries to regulate the situation with what you enable or do no longer enable. once you relinquish the administration which you do no longer probably have besides, your dream will stop coming.
