When a serious question is asked...few respond, but when you get one about the state of being for someone's a-s-s, then we get a bunch of poets filled with inspiration.

"Mindless Drivel" is both too long, too many sylabels, and in fact most responders have no idea what 'drivel' is anyway.
"Answers" o the other hand is a respected term, it implies a degree of expertise, provides an opportunity to dispense ones opinion, preferences, biases, and so forth in a forum with an audience.

Unlike politics, which does the exact same thing... Y! answers forum does not require you to raise and spend millions of dollars to get elected, and it is safer as well, as this 'drivel' is much less likely to become law, or mandated action with profound ecomonic, personnal, or internation impacts and repercussions.

Hi!
I think one needs to keep in mind that people need to express themselves and while their
answers might not be the greatest, they do develop a little every time they answer. It does give a connection and a relatively guilt-free one at that.

And, don't forget, not everyone has a teriffic typing speed ... I do know what you mean, though. Some days, I feel that I really should not bother, and should get "back to my work"...but then one must try to find things out
for onesself, even if it is about oneself rather than someone else... Sometimes you just feel better to swap stories with someone ... even if their opinion is directly opposite to yours...

You realise that if you get 5000 points Yahoo gives you 5000 dollars.

Seriously, this is not mindless drivel. Not.
