If you rotated properly - which is critical in a big truck like this you would not even have the problem but you do so...

All of the above posters are 100% WRONG!!!!

When replacing only 2 tires the new pair are ALWAYS mounted to the REAR axle. This is the recommendation of every major tire manufacturer and of the RMA (Rubber Manufacturers Association). Go to the Michelin USA web site and you'll see a nice litle video explaining why in graphic, gory detail.

I work in the tire industry. I will let a customer walk and lose the sale rather than put the new tires on the front - and I have.

New Tires in the front, good tires from the front to the rear.

Simple reasoning. If you are driving in weather or even pushing the truck around, your back end will give signs of breaking away first so you know to let off and gain control. However, if you put the new tires on the front, and your back goes out, great you can turn the wheel but w/o any traction in the rear to keep you on the road. Michelin did a huge test on this in a few major magazines and it showed that it is safe to put the older tires on the driving wheels. So for a FWD the old tires go up front, for RWD like your Truck (unless in 4x4) should go in the rear and new tires up front.

So new tires in the front, and the older good tires on the driving wheels.

Sounds about right.

I agree with the first answer. You should put the better tires on the front and the good wheels in the back. Logically speaking if you were going all out performance you would put the brand new tires on the back to get maximum traction. But for daily driving and practicality put the new tires on the front to improve handling and drivability.

The rear. If you brake hard and your rear tires turn loose first, you're liable to find yourself facing backwards.
The best thing would be to have four matching tires. That's why you rotate.
