The purpose of the media is not to tell us about what's important, it's to increase the number of viewers and readers. To say they shouldn't, is like saying an elephant shouldn't be so heavy.

The way to get the truth and to avoid biased sources is to seek multiple sources. Everybody's biased, either a little or a lot.

The media talks about unimportant things, and people are very interested, so media is doing their job - increasing the number of their consumers.

Did you ever notice that the major media keeps telling us "Three US troops were killed in Iraq yesterday" without ever telling us who killed them, and what these three US troops were doing, and how many of the enemy were killed yesterday? Interesting what they say and what they don't say.

Think.

Actually Al Jazeera just started a 24 hour English news channel, but so far it's only available in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and some parts of Europe.

I have to say compared to CNN International, Al Jazeera focuses much more on news, current events and social problems than CNN bullshit reporting on things like Britney Spears and Kevin Federline breaking up.

Hopefully, one day it will make it across the Atlantic, but for now, the government has not allowed anyone to buy the rights to broadcast it.
