I think it depends on the Corporation. Small Business probably 1 year of employment, larger companies 6 months. Large companies should also pro-rate the bonus.

Usually it's for the entire year. Some companies pro-rate it based on the number of months of service. And some companies just give it to all employees (this is rare).
I missed a cut-off date for a bonus by two weeks. A little rude I thought as all of us were the first people hired in the past year and the cut-off date just happened to be two weeks before our hire date. Convienient, huh? All of us had worked for the company as contract employees for the previous 9 months, so it wasn't like we didn't work there. It was just "Well, you all new company hires so - NO BONUS FOR YOU!" And they did this in a meeting for all employees and singled us out by saying "sorry Bob, Joe, etc, but you weren't here long enough" Merry F'in Xmas. The bonus was 5% of our annual gross pay. The next year, when we were eligible, was a $25 gift certificate to Applebee's. Oh, a steak and a couple of beers! And they wanted all of us to go out together to use them, not on our own time.
Never count on a bonus as it's exactly that - A bonus.

How long you work has nothing to do with Christmas Bonus. Are you doing a good job and pulling your weight?
Bonuses should never be expected. An employer is not required to pay one to anyone.

Typically a minimum of one year. There should be something about bonuses in your employee handbook and what has to be fulfilled to qualify for one. Our boss is extending a bonus to all employees this year, but this is a very small firm.

1 year. But if they are a decent company they should give you something.
