The USDA Forest services has been there aiding in the management of the forest at the request of the Brazilian government, together with other international groups.
Many people believe that the area is a world heritage site and must be protected because the rate of deforestation is alarmingly high and that without intervention, it will be completely gone in 15 more years.
Brazil manages the area directly so dont worry about that.

Since 1991, Brazil has worked with the United States, which has provided technical assistance on forestry related concerns. Funded by the US Agency for International Development, the USDA Forest Service has managed an extensive portfolio of natural resource activities, in partnership with several organizations: the Brazilian Institute for the Environment, the Brazilian Space Agency, the University of Brasilia, and the Fundaçao Floresta Tropical. The USDA Forest Service lends scientific and technical expertise to Brazil on several key issues, including fire and environmental change, sustainable forest management, habitat management, and forest health.
