It's so hard to have a definitive answer on this. Affirmative action can be bad - it can ensure that a less qualified applicant gets a job essentially based upon quota, or examples like that. However, I fear that if we were to do away with it, there are still people so bigoted that it would negatively effect minorities who are qualified. I wish that this could be more cut and dry, but there's not a really great solution that I've ever heard of...

I am againts affirmative action it should be base on merit , I know how to solve it without people having resentment againts those giving special treament, simple let's say a college needs to recruit a percentage of African Americans to their school all they have to do is state that any student with a B avg or above with a family income of let's say under 30k will be admitted, this way you do not discriminate againts anyone. Since more minorities have lower family income you will get a higher percentage of blacks and since there is also a grade requirement which american would resent someone with good grades but low family income getting a break.

To me, it does not make the most sense. Everyone wants to be created equal. An individuals admittance needs to be based on their qualifications. If we keep up policies like this, our country will always look at people based on their color, and not their character. And character is much more important.

against, it shouldnt matter what your skin color is. Afirmative action mocks the merit system. As many would say, "May the best person win!"

In theory, it is a good idea.
In practice, it discriminates against whites in so many unfair ways that it has become a sore spot for many, myself included.
