It depends upon the refresh rating of your monitor. Newer LCDs are faster than the ones made five years ago. If you have a monitor with a higher number for refresh time (like 12-15 ms) then you may have problems with ghosting or trailing. Monitors with a refresh of 8ms or lower are fine for movies. The other advantage of CRTs is color saturation (especially blacker blacks) but on balance, LCDs have more advantages like taking up less space, lower power consumption, etc.

Let me put it to you this way ....
Q: "What's the latest technology in home TV viewing ?"
A: " LCD televisions. That's what."
Joking aside, the quality in most LCDs is vastly superior to what it was just a few years ago. Some LCD monitors now have a gray to gray response time of 2ms.
Sure, the CRT has a 20,000 volt electron gun aimed right at you & shooting at the spped of light .... of course the response time is faster......
.... but considering how negligable it is as well as all the benefits of LCD, why invest in obsolete technology.
Only third world countries still manufacture CRTs. Within a few years they will be totally phazed out of production.
I suggest you buy from a retailer who offers a 30 day no hassle return policy. Try it out at no risk & judge for yourself.

That depends on the "speed" of the display. If you get a LCD display with low contrast and slow response, then you'll see the trails. Most of the better LCD monitors though do not have this problem. They are bright and fast, which is great for watching fast-action movies.

Hi. I have had an LCD for 5 years and love it. DVDs play just fine. The older units had more lag time but that really only had an impact on Gamers.
