A Tube Light is just like a Discharge Tube.The tube of tube light is filled by Neon gas.

when the current is passed through the tube the cathode ray is produced. When the electrons in the cathode ray bombards the walls of the tube, light is emitted. This phenomenon is called as fluorescents . And this is how Tube light works.
