Some do.... And then, sometimes it's too clear when it's a "thoughtless" thought... Like if you know someone well and they know you're diabetic and give you a pound of fudge. If the person wouldn't know that about you, then it's the thought.

I KNOW that I do believe (personally) it is the THOUGHT that counts ... and yes, there are many folks out here who are completely happy that someone will just take the time to REMEMBER that they are alive, have had some positive effect on their lives, and are grateful for even just a Christmas Card.

That usually depends on the persons age, if they are ten years of age or younger people don't care. Above that the gift has to be good, but that doesn't necessarily mean that you purchased the gift. If you do make the gift always keep in mind what they like not what you like.

It's thinking it's the thought that counts that counts, not whether you believe it or not.

I do...people dont have to give anyone a gift...its just nice to know they are thinking about you enough to give you something. doesnt matter what the gift is. I've got some great gifts from friends that they said "I'm sorry its not much" to, but they were great! I loved them because it shows they were thinking or me. Got a penguin stuffed animal (my fav animal ever!) a chocolate initial, a basket with chocolate, cards, a bath bomb, candle holder thing. the little gifts are sometimes the best ones.

I say this to people like I believe it but to be honest it's the present that counts to me.

You know, I sure do! I hate when people try to "buy" me. I love getting a gift that someone really put thought into. The "stuff" we get is just that, "stuff". The things that aren't tangible...the process of picking out that perfect something, taking the time and effort to do it and wrap it - just for me. That's special.

Yeah!! I do believe so. Some of us have the will to do something really nice, and have all our heart set on it, but since we are all different form each other, we all have different ideas of "what is nice" So many of us make the mistake of doing what is nice for us, instead of researching what is nice for the other person. But the core of it all is... Someone thought of doing something nice for you!!!!

They should. If the Giver is honestly trying to make them happy. :) Unfortunately, today many of us are too selfish to see beyond what we ourselves want, and not to consider what the other person's feelings or limitations are... that they TRIED...
I remember years ago for one of my younger sisters' birthdays, after she had opened all of her presents, she started crying when she found out that she had no more. "That's it?!" She whimpered.
Yep, selfish.
P.S. She's fifteen now, and nothing like that anymore! Lol
