Sigma in upper case is indeed for Summation, but that's not the only meaning.
Sigma in its lower case form is generally accepted as a symbol for statistics representing one standard deviation. So "two sigma" would mean two deviations from the mean. It can also be used to signify "Sigma" bonds in chemistry.
