I have aquired one, it has (apparently ever) no label inside the body, only some inked stamped numbers inside, on back, below the neck. The head stock has a tortise shell overlay with Fender engraved into it, and the tuners have the Fender f on them. It looks inexpensively made, yet has a solid spruce top and a rosewood fret board.
I'm looking for some insight on the origin-history if you can help.

Fender makes mediocre acoustic guitars. Takamine is somewhat better but not nearly in a class with the good acoustics like Martin or Taylor, much less the great acoustics like Santa Cruz and Collings.

Weird..I never saw a Fender acoustic with a plastic headstock veneer... I looked all through the Fender chapter of the 2007 Blue Book of Acoustic Guitars and found nothing with a tortoise overlay on the headstock.

If you could provide more info (back/side material, binding pattern/material, rosette design/material, etc) I may be able to help you out.
