Isn't that another word for a dummy? (or pacifier to the Americans)
No, found it, here: http://www.storkgifts.co.uk/doudous.php
It's a blanket used as a comforter.

I believe it is pronounced "doe doe" meaning sleep in baby terms. My guess would be these are items to help them sleep? Perhaps toys to sleep with? Interesting question. I've never come across this term before, and I've had 4 babies.lol!

A doudou is sort of a French term of endearment. It means any sort of thing a baby or child likes to sleep with -- a stuffed toy, a blankie, etc.

I'm french and Doudou is the name given to my baby's favorite soft toy-conforter (it can be a teddy, a blanket, etc..)
I think it might come from the french word 'doux' meaning soft, soothing.
