He says that, (in my city) in lay men's terms, that you would not be violating anything because (1) the everyday prudent person would not be able to see your message or illustration (2) it falls under the "freedom of speech" issue and you are not endangering anyone except pilots who might laugh themselves to death (3) you have an expectation of privacy in your own backyard (4) the message could only be seen from the air, and the scope of the tax assessors/GPS mapping people job does not include handling things that may be considered offensive to a handful of pilots.
And since I asked him this question, Chuck is gonna be flying over my house all the time now. I think I'll plant him a set of boobies!

I would think you wouldn't as there are some horrendous material on the web. On the other hand there may be a particular local law protecting your community from people who may fly over. This would depend on the community you are living. Even Google has aerial views from its website so you do need your local assayers to do this. The government also uses sophisticated aerial imaging. Who knows what falls under the Homeland Bureau. They kind of make things up as they go along to fit an occasion.
