The clear winner is the Hulk. When they first started to battle in the early days, the Thing would at least give the Hulk a fight. As the years progressed, Marvel needed to make a decision about strength. It was determined that the Hulk was the strongest mortal on the planet (even when he wasn't getting angrier and stronger).

This decision helped developed a tier or category of strength that readers could relate to. Thor (an immortal) and the Hulk (a mortal) are in the upper tier of strength. The Thing is in the second tier. There was one time a while back when the Thing moved up a Tier when he mutated further and became even rockier. This was the only time that we was able to match the Hulk. He has long ago lost this rockier mutation and continues to be relegated to 2nd tier strength status (which is pretty strong anyway).

The entire Fantastic Four would have (and have had) problems dealing with the Hulk and so the Thing would pose just a small obstacle for him.

Hulk smashes puny rock man in this encounter.

The Hulk and the Thing are eternal rivals, but the Hulk is simply stronger - that's a fact. However, although he is brilliant as Dr. Banner, he loses a great deal of his sanity when he becomes the Hulk whereas Ben maintains his super-strength and his rational thinking. When these two do fight, there usually is no definitive winner. They're both good guys so it's already hard enough for writers to come up with a plausible reason as to why they would be fighting in the first place.
Reasons the Hulk would win:
- physically stronger
- can travel several miles in a single jump
- strength increases exponentially as his anger increases
Reasons the Thing would win:
- retains his sanity and intelligence as the Thing
- knows Judo so he would be able to turn the Hulk's strength against him
- faster and more agile than the Hulk

The Hulk is known for his super strengh. When Stan Lee created this character he was creating the strongest man in his marvel universe. He even tried to create a chracter stronger then the hulk, which is Thor. Thor is not human he is god that is why he is stronger then the Hulk. So as I think about it the Thing is just human like the Hulk but the Hulk is the strongest human in the marvel universe which mean the Thing's strength can not match the Hulk. The Hulk can beat the Thing any time unless the Thing has back up like usual.

In a straight up fight Hulk wins. This is because of the reasons mentioned earlier... PLUS: The current incarnation of the Hulk (From Plant Hulk) is probably as smart as Ben Grimm. This Hulk is getting stronger all the time and retains at least the intelligence he had as "Joe Fixit" (A nocturnal Grey Hulk), if not more. The Hulk would eventually pull out a clear win for the reason that someone else mentioned. The Hulk would get angrier and angrier, increasing his power level, while the Thing would remain at a constant power level. Eventually, the Hulk would surpass him and become utterly too much for him to handle.

Assuming we're talking about the classic Green Hulk, then Hulk wins. He's stronger than The Thing to begin with and he has unlimited potential to get stronger as he gets enraged.

Hulk wins - the madder he gets the stronger he gets, with no theoretical limit. The Thing has a fixed limit to his power.
