You do not say if your car is kept outside or in a garage.
If outside, then it could be a leak from, say, a windscreen seal. However, if it leaks when the car is in a garage or when the weather conditions are dry, then it must be from something like a heater matrix leaking (so check your header tank coolant level).... OR (if fitted with air conditioning) the condensation water from the AC is not draining away to outside the car; (there's usually a little condensation collecting tray in the vicinity of the heater matrix, with drain tubes at each end). The tubes could be kinked or blocked so water overflows and finds its way down to the floor of the car - in your case on the driver's side. I had this problem in the middle of summer on my car and found an AC drain tube had kinked. I 'dekinked' it and all was well.]
NB I am, of course, assuming that you haven't got a hole in the floor on that side through which roadwater could ingress! Production line jigs sometimes use holes in the car floor pan which are then sealed with a rubber bung and sealant...

Hello...I have just spent weeks trying to find a water leak in a 2 year old Rover 45.My leak was only on the passenger side.We literally stripped the car...took the seats out lifted the carpet..(which took 4 days to dry) and ran a hose all over the car.Traced the leak to the front of the car under the wiper trim. The water was running back through the channels in the floor.soaking the rear of the car.The best way for you to approach it is to lift the carpet in the front...get a mate to run a hose on the screen ...and you be inside feeling around the front of the interior to see if any water is getting in.when we traced our leak...we removed the wiper trim by the windscreen and fibreglassed the seams underneath to prevent water getting in.Hey presto...a dry car at last!!!

Check the drainholes on the rear passenger door to see if they are blocked or not. That is what caused a wet floor in my car.

unfortunately I have no personal experience on this particular problem , with a rover , but I do have experience of owning a vehicle which leeks . most of the time the problem is with a poor weald on the roof , the best way to clarify the problem is by using a hose to smother the vehicle with a spray of water in order to find the weak joint

some vehicles have a pop in plug underneath did it pop out? if it did water will hit the carpet. hope its that. you may also take a hose and soak the vehicle really good and see if you can make a puddle
