Somebody had his "think different" hat on this morning! Interesting bemusing....

A driveway is a type of private road for local access to one or a small group of structures, and is owned and maintained by an individual or group. In current times of overcrowding, driveways have become increasingly shortened to, perhaps only the length of the vehicle, while still retaining the name.

Historically, the term "parkway" has often implied that the road was designed specifically with a naturalistic or manicured landscaping of the median and adjacent land areas meant to suggest a pastoral driving experience, isolated from the manifestations of commerce and advertising, even when the road passes through populated areas.

So, the words had some sort of logic once upon a time, but it is still an interesting bemusing....

Because some guy/girl in the past gave them weird names that don't make sense.

Hey wait - they do

Parkway = road by a park, which was defined as an area of open space provided for recreational use

Many parkways have signature road signs with special emblems that suggest a thematic driving experience and increase the sense of isolation from civilization in the vicinity of the road.

And I guess that means driveway has just come to mean "to a house / garage," even though it could technically mean something else.
