Since you're very low income, you probably don't have broadband and will have to rely on friends or a public library for a high-speed connection.
If you are interested in pop and rock individual songs, I haven't tried the programs that illegally get copyrighted material. However there's websites with "non-commercial" recordings of well-known and unknown musicians and bands, or they have links to such websites:

Tons of free stuff uploaded on a Rapid Share server.
Non members can download for free bit are limited to about 100MB of download every hour or so.
I just downloaded a 10 CD collection of 70's hits this very morning.

If it is free, it is known as copyright infringment and the GREEDY record companies can and have been known to come after you. That being said, do a search on P2P networks or just go check out limewire.

you can down load lime wire or kaza but you will also have to download java.They both are good site to download music and games from.They have a variety of music.You will also need a cd burner somepeople even downloads movies off from them and in that case you need a dvd burner.
