You can actually just pick up a simple cable, and this will be easy. You just want a crossover cable, sold at any computer store. Just plug it into each computer. It'll look a lot like a telephone wire, except a bit fatter, with fatter ends.

If you want to connect more than two computers, I'd suggest that you pick up a good, cheap router & switch. You'll gain speed by using a switch instead of a hub, and normal ethernet networking is faster and more reliable than most forms of usb.

Go for the E4200 (Version 2.0) or the newer EA4500. I had a 3000 before using a 4200; while they're essentially the same, the E4200 is a lot faster on both bands than the E3000. You can do what you're envisioning to do with wireless connectivity to your Router without 'net hookup, but remember you still need 'net access and a way to download/flash the Router with the latest firmware versions. Once you install Network Magic (Linksys CD that comes with your Router) you can use its Network Map function to see just how everything connects visually. As far as Ethernet vs. USB, USB 2.0 is 480mbps, where Ethernet is only 100mbps. Concerning HDTV hookup, as long as it supports networking (either USB wireless adapter or Ethernet direct connection or Bridge), then yes, you can connect it to your LAN. However, looking at the specs for your particular TV, there doesn't appear to be any USB or Ethernet ports.

Microsoft Windows is not designed to allow computers to communicate over a USB hub for networking purposes. Even when you want to convert a USB printer into a networkable device the USB converter still employs an Ethernet connection.
