This is what I did when I really wanted to get in touch with a friend who had moved away and I lost contact with because I too moved: I remembered what city she said she was from and called directory assistance and asked for the last name in that city. I got lucky that there weren't many by that name and managed to talk to my friend's mother and after explaining who I was (she remembered her daughter mentioning me) she gave me the email address. It was great being able to reconnect with her.
