Can a women do any job just as good as man. Here lately there as been a lot of women particularily in the feminist movement who argue that women can do any job, just good as man. When I hear this I agree to a point, but I wonder about a few jobs in particular like firefighting, and infantry soilder. These are the careers I wonder about and a women's compentcy working in these careers. I am not talking about some bodybuilder gigantic muscle women, I am talking the average women, your mothers, sisters, and daughters. The military to this day will not allow a women to do certain infantry jobs, so now my question I pose to you is can the average women do any job as good as man, particularily the careers that I mention? What do you think?

I have nothing against women but the truth is that men are better at some jobs and women at others. its a fact of life.

Well the two examples you gave are not so good examples. There are out of shape men in both the fire department and the military. In shape women can do a better job then than in both situations.

as far as the front line in the military it would take a very special woman. A woman who can Handel seeing what most couldn't and at the same time be physically capable of handling it.

I once had a teacher say that the reason women aren't allowed on the front lines is because of the way men would react to women being blown up.

In addition imagine how much worse it would be on a women in a POW situation...much worse then men.

So yes women can do any job a man can do as long as you find the right women for the job

So i guess not all women can do what most men can. Therefore women do not get drafted and such.

In my opinion, the answer is no. And I am a woman. The reason I feel this way is just because of the inherent, natural differneces between men and women. And I do feel that there are just some fields in which men do excel. Before everybody gets all upset about this, let me state that at the same time, there are some things that only women are able to do and men will never do well. I don't think the average woman would do well in heavy construction or as you said, firefighting. I know that there are women out there who do do these things and do them well. We are talking about the average women. That is why these fields are dominated with men. Before you get your arguement ready, realize this. There is a reason that women are the only gender that can give birth. I firmly believe that if the tables were turned and the only gender capable of giving birth, we wouldn't be here to have this conversation. And giving birth is the most physical job of any of them. And there are women out there who give birth several times over. If a man ever went through that, I guarentee, there would be no more after the first one. Secondly, I do think there are plenty of career field that women far surpass men in. There are plenty more women nurses in this world than there are men. It's just a line of work that most men can't seem to handle.

Mentally, yes - a woman could perform any job a man can. Physically, it's possible the answer could be no for "most" women (not all, of course - naturally there are some women stronger than some men.)

I believe in equality, but the truth is that *most* male and female bodies are built differently - with men being stronger and more capable of doing certain things.

Does it mean all women can't fill certain positions? Not at all. Does it mean all men are better fit for some things than all women? It really depends on the person; but men and women are, generally, put together differently.

Of course not. Not ANY job. Men are much stronger with upper-body muscles and women cannot lift or support the same amount of weight as men can. No educated person could argue otherwise with a straight face. However in regards to intellectual, creative, artistic, or other non-physical pursuits there is not a job that men or women are inherently better at.

I am going to get attacked for saying this, but no. Women can not do some jobs as well as men. ON THE CONVERSE, (before I have a horde of feminist at my door, or course after the next comment, my luck they will freak more....)there are things that men can not do as well. I do not know why the voice of a few hairy legged women can cause such an uproar. I think women should have an equal chance at whatever they want to go for, do not get me wrong on that. BUT, I do not want to hear any of them whine when a man is chosen. I could go into the whole quota - affirmative action BS...It served a purpose back in 1964 and the era around it, but it long exhausted. People should get a job on qualifications, not by an employer having a certain number of X individuals...ok I got sidetracked, but hopefully you can see my point was just that...No women are not as good at some jobs...No men are not as good as some jobs...Everyone should go after whatever they want to do, but not cry discrimination when someone of another gender or whatever is chosen.

I know I will be slammed, but we can hold our own in the brains department as being a doctor, lawyer, corporate CEO, administrative jobs, and serve in the armed forces, and we make very good detectives on law enforcement agencies, skilled laborers, and as elected officials, but where there is physical strength needed to do certain jobs, then no we are not able to pick up as much as a man or move something that is very heavy like a man can do. No need pretending we can. We are unable to do the very strenuous repetative jobs like sanitation workers do. But other than that, we can go toe to toe with a man if it does not require great physical strength.

Boy - you know how to ask a loaded question!! You know what...it is all by the individual, their determination and their level of competancy for the certain activity. Everyone is different. My opinion is if someone - either a man or a woman - wants to give something a try and they have enough training behind them to support their effort...let em try. They will know if they are over their heads or not or their work will show it and others will let them know. What generally hold them back is people that are old-fashined in their way of thinking. Good question!!

Women can do anything a man can do. As to who's better it really depends on the person or persons involved. You just can't say men are better at this, women are better at that.

Sometime we can do "a man's work" and do it better. But sometimes a man is just as good at "woman's work" or better.

Besides, is there anything really considered a job for the male or female sex anymore? I thought most of us were past that.

I am female and work with 98% males on a daily basis. I would have to say at least 70% of the time, I do the job better.

Any job mentally challenging should be considered equal between men and women. But some physical jobs are just better suited for men.For example, I don't think they should make special equipment for women firefighters, just so they can carry out people from buildings like men do. Its putting people at risk.

It depends on the woman and her capabilities and to a lesser extent to the kind of job it is. I believe that there are more divorces due to women taking on more jobs and becoming more independent. Men are probably less considerate and treat women differently because of the changes in society and having to be afraid of what they say and do. Due to the liberal advances on the part of gays and all the changes in society, I am worried about the "family".
