Im 39 wks pregnant, i lost most of my mucus plug 2 wks ago(still lose a little here an there) and over a wk ago my doctor said i was a lil dilated. I want to have this baby before xmas and really dont want to be induced(my son was and it was very long and hard) I have tried everything, yesterday i did loads of laundry, grocery shopping and then shopped all day at the mall so i was walking allday, i have sex every night, i ate spicy food; tried accupressure which brought on small contractions, nipple stimulation brings on lots of contractions but eventually they stop. I thought i was in labour like 4 times now because i was so uncomfortable i could barely walk but again it went away when id relax for a few hours. Please tell me what i can do to help bring on labour, im sooo sore and dont want to wait any longer. Also my doctor says this baby is very ready and that he is very low now in position and i feel alot of sharp pain down there.

The walking is good and so is sex. Just be sure your partner ejaculates inside you and you lay still for a while--the prostoglandins in his semen is what can help ripen the cervix. The nipple stimulation releases oxytocin and can work well for many women but it has to be done right--about 20 minutes of stimulation--5-10 minutes off, and keep repeating. It will take several hours to get the contractions coming regularly. A breast pump can be a huge help for this! Good luck!

The sex will def. help, but like someone mentioned before, lay still for a while after wards and let it work. As far as walking goes this works also. BUt most women dont understnad what kind of walking you actually have to do for it to work. And it is very hard trying to walking a baby out. SO this is something you need to decide. Walking is not a 30 minute stroll, it is a good arm pumping walk that can take all day. It worked for me though. I started walking around Noon and didnt stop (except for 20 30 minute breaks and a drink of water) untill 7 that evening and i had my baby by 7 the next evening. That is i walked about 5 hours total taking the breaks into consideration. I had blisters on the bottoms of my feet, but it worked, lolol. DO NOT DO THE CASTOR OIL. How that works is it gives you the runs so bad that it cause your intestines to contract which stimulates your uterus. It can work, but who wants to be running to the bathroom constantly, while they are in labor.

I used a few methods with my last one and they worked well.
Red Raspberry Leaf Tea: 6 times a day with 2 bags in each cup..... Make sure it says Leaf or it is not the right one..... this helps make contractions more effective and it strengthens the crevix for an easier labor
Nipple stimulation : 30 minutes to an hour at a time several times a day
Walking : as soon as you finish nipple stimulation go for a walk and it keeps your body going
Sex : as much as possible
Black or Blue Cohosh : ONLY in the recommended dosage because too much can be hard on the baby

I would just relax and let nature take its course. You don't want to get all stressed out trying to induce your own labor. That is just not healthy for you or your baby. I bet if you forget about it you will go into labor soon enough. artificial induction is the only sure way to have your baby earlier. I had the same symptom you are explaining at least a month before I actually had my son and I still had to be induced. Go get some bon bons and a large glass of milk, sit back and watch some christmas specials and I bet that will be the most effective and then I think you will go into labor this weekend.

Your Wearing Yourself OUT! How will you have any energy left for labor? Staying active is a good idea but not to the point of being sore and exhausted. Relax and try visualizing what your body needs to do in labor. Visualation techniques can be very helpful. Kissing your husband can also help because of the hormones releases that aren't always released during sex. Besides, let's face it sex at this point isn't always enjoyable.
Nipple stimulation does work...try a breast pump on a very low setting.

i had this very same problem. i tried everything so i wouldn't have to be induced... but nothing worked. so i just went ahead and got induced (even though i didn't want to). of course when i went they gave me putocin through an i.v., and i stayed dialated to a 1 the whole time and experienced extreme contractions. i asked the nurse if i could get off of the putocin drip since it was showing no signs of changing. they allowed it and inserted a tampon-like thing called cervadil, and gave me something for pain and nausea. I slept a good while and woke up dialated to an 8! I would reccommend you being induced, especially if u want to have the baby before christmas. Trust me, the pain is worth it.

I am sure that you will have this baby B4 xmas by what you are telling us. You could go into labor any day or any minute. Xmas is still 10 days away, I doubt that it will take that long for you to go into labor. It sounds like the baby has dropped by your description of the sharp pains down there. I lost my mucous plug 10 days B4 I labored, and most go into labor within 2 weeks of losing theres, so I doubt you will still be pregnant by the time xmas gets here.

Doctors cannot tell if the baby is "ready". When he is ready to be born, he will trigger labor. The fact that the nipple stimulation didn't work indicates that your baby still needs a little while. Christmas is still over a week away and even if he doesn't come by Christmas, better to have a baby that is really ready to be born. I know it is so hard to wait, but it will be better for him.

I feel the same way also and i'm 38 weeks pregnant. I tried everything that you've tried and I haven't felt anything. Just keep doing the same techniques unless you want to be induced. I want to be at home as well when santa comes. I think that you are really close. Just walk, walk walk.

Just get tons of mattress leisure and drink tons of fluids. Alot of humans run low on fluid for the period of the summer season months. From a private standpoint, despite the fact that. I'd be a bit bit frustrated on the physician. The physician is being a little bit egocentric ready till the weekend is over.
