release your Ip address, ipconfig /release. It could be cached, if that fails, you can always give it a static IP, jsut change it to manually assinged, and give it the ip address of the other computer, but one number off, then make sure you have the same subnet and gateway and dns servers.

1. First connect the system directly into the cable modem and reboot. You may have to reboot a few times. If the system gets an IP address than you will have to look at the configuration settings of your router.

Such as on the router make sure the address range for the DHCP function incudes enough addresses for both of your computers.

Instead of troubleshooting your IP issues just reset your router again. and don't mess with the IP configuration. If you have cable , your provider will assign you an IP for a duration of 3 months then renew it.
