I was going to upgrade my system with a gig of ram and a video card. I was researching about video cards and found out that the PCI slot type is the bottom of the rung but I do not have the cash to buy a new computer and was going to make due with what I have. Any recommendations on video cards and what I should be concerned with (Memory, clock speed, etc…)?

if you're computer is so old it doesn't even have an AGP slot, which has already been phased out but is still servicable, then it's pointless to add a new videocard. Take any money you'd spend and save for a new computer.

If you must buy a new videocard, you're probably looking for a nVidia geForce 4 or above - clock speed is pretty unimportant at this point, 64-128 megs of memory.
