Most Neanderthals that I've met live in Texas and drive either really big pickup trucks - Titan's, Tundra's and F150/250's.

There is no enigma. They were out-competed by smarter Cro Magnons, who developed better tools, thus catching more food, and procreated more. When you're out-competed, you face marginalization, lower preproduction, and either die out or breed into the thriving population.

They're extinct. They died out 30,000 years ago.
And FYI, this is not mythology or folklore. Neanderthals existed, we have fossils and remains from thousands of them, and empirical evidence to prove they existed, just like any creature in the fossil record.

One of two things happened: Either they were wiped out by Cro-Magnons, or interbred out of existence. In either event no such distinctive population exists today.

Modern humans evolved from them. They are now extinct. This is not a myth, it is fact, proven by hard evidence.

... honey, you need to go back to school. The Neandertals died out millions of years ago. They were a dead end in evolution.
